G-NDER (2015)

Selected portraits of people living outside, or in conflict, with the gender binary in London, UK.
Black and white medium format film, hand-processed.

How do people present something as innate and intangible as gender expression as a physical aesthetic? How often does what we present match people's ideas of what our gender should be? When is it safe to present as you wish? Challenging the gaze of the camera, questioning how we present ourselves, and examining the rifts between how we are seen, how we want to be seen, and what we want from being seen.
